Disc 4: Skateboarding Safety Film (1970s)

Brief Synopsis of DVD: Vintage skateboarding instructional and safety film by Sid Davis from the mid 1970s. 


Title #1: Skateboarding Sense

Brief Description: Excellent skateboarding safety film with a stong emphasis on wearing protective padding and gear, such as helmets.  Great vintage skateboarding footage with some great accidents.  


Disc 5: Bowling Films (1950s)

Three (3) vintage bowling promotional films made to inform the American public about the advances in the bowling industry in an attempt to attract a larger audience.  The invention of the automated pin setter and bowling ball returning machines made bowling a much more popular sport in the 50s.

Disc 6: The Olympics: Olympic Bids, Games & Ceremonies Films w/ Jesse Owens (1936 - 1960s)

Brief Synopsis of DVD: This compilation features newsreels following the US Olympic teams in the 1936, 1956, & 1964 Olympics.  This DVD also includes two films sponsored by the City Of Detroit in 1964 for the Olympic Selection Committee in a failing bid to host the 1968 Olympics.  Athletes including in this collection are Jesse Owens (USA), Abebe Bikila (Ethiopia), Don Schollander (USA), Jed Graef (USA), Dawn Frasor (Australia), Edith McGuire (USA), Wyomia Tyus (USA), Sharon Stouder (USA), & lots more medal winners.

Brief Synopsis of DVD:  Remember the good old days of baseball? How about Major League Baseball circa 1978? Relive the memories with this DVD edition of a Navy-sponsored highlight reel of the 1978 Major League Baseball All-Star Game. See vintage footage of many of the prominent All-Stars of yesteryear.

Brief Description:  Steve Garvey won the MVP at the 1978 All-Star Game, but great performances were turned in by a variety of players, including Rod Carew, Vida Blue, Pete Rose, Ernie Banks (interview only), George Brett, Jim Rice, Carleton Fisk, Joe Morgan, Ted Simmons, Jim Palmer, Billy Martin, Whitey Herzog, Tommy Lasorda, Dave Winfield and many more players. Don’t forget the infamous Chicken Mascot hailing from San Diego – the Chicken puts on quite a show wherever he pops up! Mel Allen narrates the action of the game as the National League goes on to victory. This film suffers from some flicker.

When Babe’s rival, Harry Knight, comes to town as the new pitcher, Babe must compete for a spot on the Haverlock team and win the adoration of his love, Mildred Tobin, played by Ruth Taylor. Recruited by another town’s team when their pitcher is drunk, Babe makes a homerun for the rival team. The townspeople are so angry at Babe he must leave town. Babe returns home as a famous baseball player and the town along with his sweetheart Mildred, embrace him.
