The oldest form of adventurer is those who explore the world in the name of science, conquest, money, or in the name of adventure herself. Such explorers travel the world and set the bar for charting the unknown. “Adventure,” documents, through two separate films, the powerfully compelling call to seek out uncharted territory. Famous captain Robert Bartlett explores the orient before setting off on another mission to the Antarctic and ship North Star treks across the waters on its way to Antarctic.

The Department of Interior sends the North Star ship on an expedition to Antarctica. The ship loads up the Snow Cruiser, which was sent all the way from Chicago. The North Star and Snow Cruiser depart from the Boston pier. The crew, in full costume, makes a stop just south of the equator at Pitcairn Island. They bring fruits, wood carvings, and baskets to trade for lard, sugar, and flour. The North Star crew also brings medical supplies to the Bounty Mutineers that now live on the island. After leaving the island and returning to the ship, they set sail to the south. Three days later the crew finds themselves near an island and coral reefs. They make their way towards the town, tucked away behind protective mountains and volcanoes. Before they knew it, they were back on the ship and headed south to Antarctica. The small blocks of ice gradually get bigger and bigger. The water becomes denser with ice blocks and the mainland seems much closer. On both sides of the boat, one can see seals and penguins. An expedition leads to a pack of whales. After thirty-nine days at sea, the crew has finally landed at Antarctica. During the part of the year, the sun is out nearly the entire day and night, so unpacking the ship can be done round-the-clock. Dogs are even used to pull a plane across the snow. The Snow Cruiser is unloaded and starts its exploration. Some men of the crew find food in a seal that they catch in a net and later butcher.Another ship, the U.S.S. Bear, arrives a little after the North Star and sets out to explorer another region of Antarctica, the Palmer Peninsula, roughly 1500 miles to the East. The U.S.S. Bear take a plane on board, and that plane takes three flights and discovers nearly 700 miles of never seen before coastline. The crew takes a break and plays with some of the penguins. They even keep a few to take back to Boston. The ships leave to head to Cape Horn. Both expeditions begin to pickup and head out of Antarctica. The tents are torn down. Both crews seem to have enjoyed themselves. They laugh and joke. The rest of the crew works on feeding fish to the new penguins. A heavy snow storm hits Antarctica as the ship is heading out. Whereas during the expedition, the days were all crisp and clear, now one can only see white.
