M.A. Wetherell wrote, directed and starred in this 1927 silent film. This is a rare DVD copy of this vintage movie. Wetherell (who later created extreme publicity over Loch Ness Monster photos in the 1930s) plays Robinson Crusoe, the hero of Daniel Defoes 1719 novel about a shipwrecked English sailor who, by virtue of his own ingenuity, survives for years on a small tropical island.

M.A. Wetherell, famous for launching a huge hoax involving the Loch Ness Monster, wrote, directed, and starred in this silent version of Defoes Robinson Crusoe. This vintage movie features the classic story of a shipwrecked English sailor who survives for years on a tiny island before being rescued. Along the way he makes a friend, the native Friday. Wetherells portrayal of Crusoe is surprisingly honest and the story flows smoothly, until the reunification of Crusoe and his lady, back in England, which is a bit stilted.
