Menace of Guatemala explores the culture of native Guatemalans. Set against the backdrop of the active volcano, Agua, the film captures a tapestry of the local traditions and indigenous way of working for survival among the native Guatemalans. The film explores the ancient city of Antigua, one of the centers of power of the Toltec civilization. The film highlights the danger which looms over the town and lives due to the active volcano. The rich culture of Guatemala is highlighted. For example, the film shows the family as an important unit in native society. In addition, it shows how native people prepare food, as a women is shown making tortillas. The role of women in the production of goods for trade is emphasized and we see how a woolen cloth is made. Local trade among the native Indians of Guatemala is shown as well as how the natives products make their way to the market. The film also captures a busy local market and looks into the way the local people do their trade and local festivities. The menace of the volcano is impending but the way of life of the native Guatemalans continues…
