Hebephrenia is a type of schizophrenia characterized by delusions, hallucinations, blunting of emotion, lack of movement and poverty of speech. Though silent, Symptoms in Schizophrenia, explores the aspects of this debilitating disease during the 1940s. The doctors were more concerned documenting the actual symptoms rather than looking to treat the patients which makes watching this all the more harrowing and stark. A reminder of the millions of people suffering unheard, trapped inside their own heads. Scenes include doctors doing various experiments, such as moving an unresponsive mans limbs without resistance, and patients apparently having conversations with people that are not there.
