This is invaluable footage of the Santo Thomas concentration camp operated by the Japanese to house American and British troops during World War II. The camp was located on the grounds of a university in Manila and was liberated in 1945. The film includes footage of burning buildings, military vehicles barreling through the streets, children running down the sidewalks, camp survivors eating hot meals, doctor checkups, injured troops and survivors, POW holding grounds, architecture, military bunkers, dead bodies, collapsed bridges and the local Philippine population. Historians say that many war crimes occurred at the Santo Tomas camp and that the prisoners were subject to malnutrition and very unhealthy environments. This film footage is a very important piece of World military history and now is digitized and preserved on DVD.
