They Call It All-States

They Call It All-States

Produced: 1950

Length: 20 Minutes

What do they call a summer camp that is specifically designed for kids who live on farms, take an interest in farming as a career, and pass several courses on farming in order to attend said camp? Why, They Call It All-States, of course! In the vestiges of an old labor camp, a new sort of camp, only for farm teenagers, was established as a retreat from the drudgery of farm life. There the kids learn about government, international affairs, and more, in between those lessons having fun through hiking, drinking soda pop, playing basketball, and attending dances and comedy musical shows.

A Child Went Forth

A Child Went Forth

Produced: 1950

Length: 20 Minutes

In the war torn country of England during World War II there were few places a child could go and be safe from the bombings and the violence. A Child Went Forth shows a camp that was exactly that and more. It was a place in the countryside where three to seven year olds could find peace but it was also a progressive camp that allowed for minimal adult supervision coupled with encouragement for artistic expression. The children were allowed a variety of pastimes, such as playing with animals, gardening, and arts and crafts and the camp was ideally painted as a place that made wonderful impressions on malleable minds.
