“Guardians of Our Country’s Health” explores the methods taken by the United States to prevent disease from coming into the country via ship. A doctor and a health inspector survey every ship, including their logs and history, to ensure the health of American citizens. Everyone and everything had to go through quarantine, customs and immigration and these officers of public health were the difference between entrance and denial. Though dated, it serves as an interesting look at the preventative measures taken to stave off communicable disease.
