The Gray Whale makes one the longest trips in the world for a mammal to have their children, following the ragged coast of the western United States from Alaska to Mexico. They are an animal rich in time and a history of violence and conservation. “The California Gray Whale,” is a powerfully moving tale, not only of their journey to produce offspring, but the history of whaling, population resurgence, birthing practices and overall characteristics that make the whale unique. It explores a study about a captured baby whale, Gigi, and the ways in which scientists are learning about grey whales in their natural environment.
